I was outside this morning in the backyard, photographing the giveaway I made for the Grow Your Blog Party. All the giveaway posts will go up on Saturday morning, so go check out a bunch of blogs and leave comments to enter the giveaways of the things that grab you. Including here!
Anyway, while I was out there I snapped a few pics of the tea tree. I love tea trees and was thrilled to finally be able to plant one in our new back yard last May. I had no idea they began to bloom in the the most frigid weather.
For those of you not familiar with them, they're sort of sparse leggy bushes with thorns and can look really ratty if not trimmed up well, but the flowers are this luscious pink that I just love. They also come in white and maybe other shades of pink, but I love this one.
No idea why they're called 'trees' but I know they can be trained as a standard - a tree - so maybe that has something to do with it. I like them best as somewhat straggly bushes.
It was 30F this morning and has been every morning for weeks. I can't operate my camera with gloves on and my hands are still stiff and cold after being inside for a half hour or so. The older I get, the less well I do cold.
Enjoy the pink!
